Power Daredevil
The GW2 daredevil build for open world is a staff and a dodge button. Bounding Dodger replaces your roll with a damaging leap and hands you a damage bonus afterwards, and the third endurance bar means you have one when it matters. The unusual instruction is that you dodge through the enemy rather than away from them, because the damage happens where you land.
Equipment
One set of Berserker across all fifteen slots — power, precision and ferocity, nothing defensive. That is a bold choice on a profession with the smallest health pool in the game, and the build answers it with evasion rather than with stats: three dodges instead of two, a dodge that damages, and a heal that refills endurance. Thief wears medium armour. Exotic is enough to start.
The shortbow is transport, not a second damage profile. Infiltrator’s Arrow is one of the best movement skills in the game and that is the reason it is on the bar. Everything this build does for damage, it does with the staff, in melee. If you are looking for a ranged Thief, the celestial Specter is the one to read instead.
Weapon alternatives why these ones
A relic and two second sigils, all three chosen for the same reason: this build cannot stop attacking.
Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew and Mist-Infused Sharpening Stone, both taken from GuildJen’s version of this build. The food gives might on dodge and +40% endurance regeneration. The utility item converts what you already have: power from 3% precision and 6% ferocity.
Consumable alternatives our picks, not the source's
Cheap, craftable, always available — and chosen for power gear, not for this build in particular. These are our picks, not the source’s.
How the build works
The dodge is the rotation. Bounding Dodger replaces your dodge with Bound, which damages the area you land in, and then increases your strike damage for a period afterwards. So dodging is not something you do between attacks — it is the attack that makes the other attacks worth more, and the source’s priority list starts with it.
- Dodge through — Bound damages where you land, not where you left
- Bounding Dodger — and now your strike damage is up
- Weakening Whirl — staff 2, the initiative sink
- Staff Master — spent initiative comes back as endurance
- Dodge again — which is why the loop closes
- Channeled Vigor — when it does not — endurance and health
Dodge through the enemy, not away from it. This is the one piece of technique the build genuinely requires, and the source spells it out: the damage lands where you land, so you want to come down on top of the target. That also means standing at maximum melee range while auto-attacking, so a dodge through the target still leaves you in range on the other side.
Skills
Channeled Vigor is the heal and it is really an endurance skill — it grants endurance and health per pulse, and heals for more if your endurance is already full, which makes pressing it early correct rather than wasteful. Signet of Agility refills endurance outright and cleanses conditions from nearby allies. Assassin’s Signet is passive power all the time and a large burst on demand. Shadowstep is the only condition removal and the only escape that does not cost endurance. Dagger Storm reflects projectiles and lets you keep moving while it runs.
- Heal — Channeled Vigor
- Utility — Shadowstep
- Utility — Signet of Agility
- Utility — Assassin's Signet
- Elite — Dagger Storm

Traits
Critical Strikes for the crit engine, Acrobatics for the endurance economy, Daredevil for the dodge.
- Critical Strikes — Twin Fangs · Practiced Tolerance · No Quarter
- Acrobatics — Pumping Up · Swindler's Equilibrium · Upper Hand
- Daredevil — Marauder's Resilience · Staff Master · Bounding Dodger
How the endurance keeps coming back
Staff Master grants endurance for each point of initiative you spend while wielding a staff. Upper Hand grants initiative when you dodge and initiative plus regeneration when you evade an attack. Read them together and you have a closed loop: spend initiative on staff skills, get endurance, dodge, get initiative back.
Swindler’s Equilibrium and Endurance Thief add two more ways in — evading recharges Steal while wielding a sword, and a successful steal grants endurance. Pumping Up hands you might for dodging, and Feline Grace hands you vigor for evading.
Marauder’s Resilience is the only defensive major pick: vitality scaled off your power, and reduced damage from foes at close range. On a Berserker set with no defensive statline anywhere, it is doing more work than its position in the tree suggests.
Rotation
The source publishes a priority list, and it is unusually short: dodge to keep the Bounding Dodger buff up, Steal if you need the gap closer or the resources, Channeled Vigor if you need dodges, staff 5 if you need an evade or mobility, then staff 2, then staff 1.
When you run out of dodges the build stops working, which is why three separate skills on the bar exist to give endurance back. If all of them are down, the shortbow and Infiltrator’s Arrow are how you leave.
Vault is a trap on a rotation sheet. Staff 5 is the flashiest press and the most expensive one in initiative, and initiative is what Staff Master converts into your next dodge. Use it as an evade or to cover ground; do not use it as a damage rotation.
The honest verdict
Tier B for open world. Four questions decide it, and the answers come from this page:

Our judgement, not a measurement — 2026-09-13.
What it is good at, and what it is not:
It is a full Berserker set on the smallest health pool in the game, in melee, with one weapon. There is no barrier, no shroud, no second health bar — the defence is that you are somewhere else when the attack lands, and that only works while you have endurance. It also has no ranged damage: the shortbow is there to travel and to leave.
What you get back is the simplest rotation of the eight and the most satisfying one. Dodge through the pack, land on it, spend initiative, dodge again. It is fast, it moves well, and the loop between initiative and endurance means playing it properly feeds itself.
It is also the better-supported half of our Thief pair: MetaBattle ranks a power Daredevil first on the search term, Snow Crows carries a staff version, and Hardstuck lists a booster Daredevil under open world. If you want the Thief that survives instead, read the celestial Specter.

[&DQUjGzYqBzWUEgoBWACJAFcBWAEzARkBnwEOAQAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA=] Questions
Is Daredevil good for open world in GW2?
It is fast, simple and fragile. Daredevil gives the Thief a third dodge and turns the dodge itself into an attack, which suits open world well — you are constantly moving between packs. The cost is that a full Berserker set on the game’s smallest health pool has no margin at all when the endurance runs out.
Daredevil or Deadeye for open world?
Daredevil. Deadeye is built around marking a single target and killing it from range, which is a structured-content answer to a problem open world does not usually pose. Daredevil clears packs, moves quickly between them and has three dodges to work with.
Why do I dodge through the enemy instead of away?
Because Bounding Dodger replaces your dodge with Bound, and Bound damages the area you land in. Rolling away from the pack puts the damage on empty ground. Stand at maximum melee range while auto-attacking so that a dodge through the target still leaves you within reach on the far side.
What stats should a Daredevil use in open world?
Berserker on every slot — power, precision and ferocity, with nothing defensive. The build’s survivability is evasion rather than statistics, and diluting the offence does not buy you enough health to change what kills you. Marauder is a reasonable compromise if you are learning it.
How do I stop running out of endurance?
Three things give it back. Staff Master converts initiative you spend into endurance, Channeled Vigor grants endurance and health per pulse, and Signet of Agility refills the bar outright. Physical Supremacy also raises the ceiling to three dodges instead of two.
Is the shortbow worth carrying?
For travel, yes. Infiltrator’s Arrow is one of the best movement skills in the game and it is also the escape when your dodges are gone. As a damage weapon on this build it is not competitive with the staff, and the rotation does not include it.
Which Thief build should I take for open world?
This one if you want to kill things quickly and enjoy the movement. The celestial Specter if you want a Thief that does not die, fights at range and helps a group. They are the two ends of the profession and both are on this site.
About this build
The power Daredevil is a GW2 daredevil build for open world PvE: full Berserker gear, Rune of the Scholar, Relic of Zakiros, and the Critical Strikes, Acrobatics and Daredevil trait lines with staff and shortbow. Its mechanic is the dodge — Bounding Dodger replaces the roll with Bound, which damages where you land and then increases your strike damage afterwards, so dodging through the enemy rather than away from it is the core technique. Endurance and initiative feed each other: Staff Master turns spent initiative into endurance, Upper Hand turns dodging and evading into initiative, and Channeled Vigor and Signet of Agility refill the bar outright. Physical Supremacy raises the ceiling to three dodges. It carries no defensive statline, no barrier and no ranged damage, and it is the simplest rotation of its set.
Traits and skills decoded from the in-game build template and verified against the official Guild Wars 2 API, which also supplies the icons; item, rune, sigil and relic identities read from /v2/items. Build based on GuildJen’s Power Daredevil open world build, last updated there 30 July 2026; GuildJen publishes no patch stamp. MetaBattle, Snow Crows and Hardstuck all carry a power Daredevil for other content — the builds should not be mixed. Builds shift with every balance patch; last checked 13 September 2026.
