How breeding works in Palworld 1.0
Lower breeding power tends to mean a rarer Pal — pairing two low numbers pulls the child towards the rare end of the table. Legendaries and a few others never appear as an ordinary result.

How does breeding work in Palworld 1.0?
Two Pals of the same species always make that species. A fixed list of special combos comes next — those pairs always give the same named child. Every other pair is averaged: add both parents’ breeding power, add 1, halve and round down. The child is the Pal whose breeding power is closest to that number; on a tie the game prefers its internal priority, then the base form over a variant.
How many breeding combinations are there?
44,551 pairings of two different Pals among 299 breedable species (including the Terraria crossover creatures), plus 299 same-species pairs. 134 of the pairings are special combos, and one pair — Katress and Wixen — gives a different child depending on which parent is female.
Which Pals can only be bred from two of themselves?
No pair of other Pals produces these, so you need two of them: Bastigor, Bellanoir Libero, Blazamut Ryu, Cave Bat, Dandilord, Faleris, Frostallion, Green Slime, Grizzbolt, Gumoss (flower form), Hartalis, Jetragon, Lyleen, Mimog, Necromus, Neptilius, Orserk, Paladius, Panthalus, Selyne, Shadowbeak, Shaolong, Silvance, Xenogard, Xenolord, Xenovader.
What does Katress + Wixen breed?
It depends on the parents’ genders. A female Katress with a male Wixen gives Katress Ignis; a male Katress with a female Wixen gives Wixen Noct. It is the only gender-dependent pair in the game.
Where does this breeding data come from?
From the game’s own data tables as extracted by the open-source PalCalc project, resolved for every pair, and cross-checked against a second, independently published dataset. The two agree on every pair except those involving Depresso, Souffline and Solmora Lux, where a third source confirms the values used here.
