Hoocrates is the Dark Pal at No. 019 — a small, contemplative owl named for a hoot and a Greek philosopher, complete with a Descartes quote in its Paldeck. It comes out only at night, and its value is a buff for Dark builds plus a steady supply of Fiber.
Where to find Hoocrates
Hoocrates is nocturnal — it only spawns at night. It ranges widely: the Windswept Hills, Sea Breeze Archipelago, Marsh Island, Forgotten Island, the southern tip of Ice Wind Island, and the western Bamboo Groves. It is neutral — it fights back only if attacked.
It appears as an Alpha in Hillside Cavern and Isolated Island Cavern (~Lv 13), and hatches from a Dark Egg.

Stats & how they vary
Melee 70, Shot 70; Game8 ranks it near the floor for HP and Attack (#180, #182) but a little sturdier on Defense (#131) — the 80 Defense is the one number above starter-average. It is not a fighter; the point is the party-slot buff and the Fiber. Type matchup. Dark is strong against Neutral and weak to Dragon — like Depresso it dodges most early elemental threats, but a Dragon Pal ends it fast.
Work & drops
Its only job — but Gathering is what harvests your Berry Plantation, so an owl in the corner quietly speeds up your food supply. Pair it with a Clovee (whose Happy Clover lifts everyone’s Gathering) and the plantation runs itself.
Fiber ×5–10 (100%) — one of the most-used early materials, so a Hoocrates you catch or defeat is a stack of it. The 1% Technical Manual is a rare bonus that speeds a Technology unlock.

The story of Hoocrates
"Often lost in thought, it sometimes finds it difficult to sleep. 'I think, therefore I am.'"
The whole Pal is one sustained pun and it is the best-read joke in the early Paldeck. The name folds a hoot into Socrates; the flavour text hands the owl a Descartes line; "Purveyor of Wisdom" sells the bit straight-faced. Underneath, it is a sincere sketch — an insomniac thinker up all night because it cannot switch its head off. You catch it, and it spends its sleepless nights gathering berries and coaching your Dark Pals.
Day 5 (night). An owl, awake at 3am, apparently mid-thought. Related to it immediately.
Day 6. It gathers. Put it on the berry plantation next to the Clovee and the harvests picked up.
Day 9. Defeated a wild one and got a pile of Fiber. Then another. This owl is a rope factory that quotes Descartes.
Day 14. Ran a Dark team with it in the back. The front-liner hit noticeably harder. The thinking owl, it turns out, is a decent coach.
